Text from The Giver
Student Response
Visual Representation
"It was almost December, and Jonas beginning to feel
frightened. No, wrong word, Jonas thought.Frightened
meant that deep, sickening feeling of something terrible
about to happen
When I think of December, I get
I get happy. It means snow, presents,
and time with my Dad. Why scary?
An image to represent fear. An image
of Rothko's"Untitled - 1969" taken at
the National Gallery of Art.
Frightened was the way he had felt a year ago when an
unidentified aircraft had flown over the community twice.
He had seen it both times. Squinting toward the sky, he
had seen the sleek jet, almost a blur at its high speed, go
past, and a second later, from the opopsite direction, the
same place.
I really don't like this. It reminds me of
September 11.
A representation of fear, planes, and
the students connection - September 11.
An image of an American flag.
I will have more examples posted here. You can type your response or record it. I will add a recording to the examples.
Please check out the Injustice page - contest info posted.
